I am a descendent of David and Thomas Phillips, they had a sister called Ann who married a Forrest Rippon and she was my Gt Gt Grandmother.Forrest I believe worked at the pit, probably with his sons who were killed on that terrible day. They lived at no 40 North Row which I believe does not exist anymore.I would be honoured to come to the memorial service if you have any places left. Also would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about my ancestors. Kind regards Dee Smith
I'm not directly related to anyone involved in the disaster but am studying the life and political actions of Baxter Langley, the surgeon and newspaperman who was involved. (Part of this study will be the mining campaign for which I am returning to England next year.)All the best for your commemoration. If you have any questions about the other political actions Langley was involved in, I'm happy to pass on what knowledge I have.
