Flying Scotsman

Hi there
Don't know if you're aware of it but there's a good book about the derailing of the Flying Scotsman between Cramlington and Dudley in 1926. It's called 'Let No Wheels Turn' by Margeret Hutcherson.

My old man (Jack Robinson) knew a couple of the blokes responsible and also Joe Martin of Burradon who was present at the event but being a schoolboy at the time was sent packing by the perpetrators to keep him out of trouble.
I recall old Joe and my old man having many a natter about the 'old days.' It's sad that the younger generation have little knowledge of such events. There are three kings buried less than a mile from where I live (at Tynemouth Priory.)
They should know their history.
