It's Official - Burradon and Camperdown is a good place to live


At times we are despondent and encourage negative thoughts concerning the village and imagine a thousand other places we would prefer to live. The village has problems,however,other areas also have similar challenges and it is easy to ignore the positive aspects of living in Burradon and Camperdown.

It was not that many years ago that the village was derelict and the sense of community was disappearing,however,with the hard work of many different groups in the village and with the support of North Tyneside Council, Places for People, ward Councillors and Northumbria Police, we have been able to reverse the years of decline and revitalise the sense of community spirit.

We imagine there are many sceptics reading this article and shaking their heads in disbelief. Fortunately, we have the evidence in the form of a survey which Andy Warriner Places for People recently conducted and the findings are detailed below:

Analysis
33 cite friendliness or community spirit as what they like about B & C. This was really striking in analysing results and matches my own experience.
Others (8) say similar warm things such as 'it's home / its my home / lived here all my life, friends are here

Survey for older people, but several younger people completed it too.(7) Of these, 4 mentioned new school and / or new park, which seemed very high.
2 mentioned PfP's Kirkdale Court & lunch club.
